Storm-Laden Philippines

I can’t believe we are bracing ourselves for another typhoon – the third typhoon (I think) which is the third or fourth typhoon to hit the Philippines after the devastating Typhoon Ondoy.

The Philippines gets to experience more than 20 typhoons a year. I think that the government should deal with this and think of ways on how to make the country benefit from this rain in the future – just like how the Dutch (The Netherlands) dealt with most of their low-lying areas with their more than 30-years-in-the-making Delta Project that protected low-lying areas from eternal inundation.

You see, the Dutch have learned to stood the test of floods. They learned from it. Obviously, we didn’t and we DON’T. Perhaps, we should all learn how to deal with it and take advantage of inundation in the years to come. We can’t prevent floods from happening but we can create a way to live with it. I’m not an expert. I thought that idea might work for us. We can considering starting from there I guess. Any takers?
