Monique Lhuillier: A World-Class Filipina Fashion Designer

I am so much impressed with the short biography I read about Ms. Monique Lhuillier, a Filipina fashion designer who was raised in Cebu, Philippines. Her extraordinary success was traced to designing the clothes for her wedding entourage. I think people get to invent something different and of value when faced with disappointment.

A few years ago, President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo awarded a Presidential Medal of Merit to Monique because of her exceptional and valuable contribution to the world of fashion. She is truly deserving to receive such a plaque of honor given her achievements and accolades from her colleagues in the industry. Some of her previous clients were (but not limited to) Sarah Jessica Parker, Britney Spears, Eva Longoria, Alicia Silverstone, Jennifer Connelly, Ashley Judd, Angelina Jolie, Sharon Stone, Reese Witherspoon, Halle Berry and from the Philippines, Lea Salonga.

She’s featured in CNN and Time Magazine and the Opray Winfrey Show for her amazing bridal gown collections. I think I’m liking her designs better than the out-of-this-world collections of other fashion designers.

Monica Lhuillier is born to Michel J. Lhuillier (French-Filipino) a businessman and Amparito Llamas, a Filipina model. They own M. Lhuillier, the largest pawnshop chain in the Philippines.
